Born in Akita Prefecture in 1952, Oga Kazuo, graduated from high school and went on to a designer school. In 1972, he joined Kobayashi Productions, an animation background art company. Since then, he has been involved in numerous TV series and theatrical films. His first job as an art director was on the movie "My Neighbor Totoro." Since then, he has been in charge of art direction and background art for most of his works. He is currently freelance, working on anime, picture books, illustration, essays, and more in a wide range of fields!
This book has about 110 works are collected, mainly background paintings and art boards. It includes an interview, including contributions from directors like Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki!
